Keyboard shortcuts

On macOS use ⌘ for Ctrl and ⌥ for Alt. In the app, ? (outside a text field) or Help ▸ Keyboard Shortcuts shows the same list. The tables list the default keys.

Change the keys

Settings ▸ Keyboard (also Change the keys… in the ? list, and Ctrl+K ▸ Keyboard Shortcuts: Change the Keys…) lists every shortcut with a search box (by what it does or by its keys). The ones under Anywhere can be changed, except Ctrl+Alt+1…9 (the rail's), F12 and Ctrl+Z:

  1. Click a shortcut's keys: it says Press keys…. Press the new combination (Esc cancels, Backspace turns the shortcut off).
  2. Keys another command has are named (Ctrl+P is already “Quick Open”): Use it here moves them to this command and gives the other one this command's old keys. Keys an editor or the system keeps (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Alt+1…9 …) and a key alone that typing needs (a letter, Shift+a letter) are refused with the reason.
  3. ↺ beside a shortcut puts its default back; Reset all puts every default back.
  4. Export… saves your changes as testpion-keybindings.json ({ "testpionKeybindings": 1, "bindings": { "palette": "Mod+Shift+P" } }, only the keys you changed; Mod = Ctrl / ⌘); Import… reads such a file on another computer and says what it skipped.

Your keys are this computer's (the app's settings.json, keybindings), and the shortcuts list (?), the tooltips, the top bar and the command palette's hints show them. The editors' own keys (send, save, find …) are listed for reference and keep their keys. The native File menu shows the default key of Settings….

Settings ▸ Keyboard: a search box, Reset all, Export and Import, and every shortcut grouped as in this page, the app-wide ones with their keys to click and change
